NEIGHBORHOOD BREAK-INS

Document: "Tips to reduce the chance of burglary"

Reports From :

Dear Neighbors,

Please note that several home break-ins have occurred in our neighborhood in the past week.
Apparently one on Brooklyn/Gaston Sunday evening with over $10,000 in items taken.

I understand some of the break-ins are specifically into homes whose owners are on vacation.

I came home from the Sunday concert in Fred Fletcher park to be told that a "very clean cut young black man" had been sitting on my porch and then wandering up and down Wills Forest St. Two neighbors approached him to inquire if he was looking for someone, and he said he was looking for "Chris" and that his name was "Cameron". He pointed to my car and said that was Chris' mom's car.

A young man of similar description was biking back and forth on Wills Forest and Hinsdale streets this morning.

Each time he "seemed" to be looking all around as if surveying the homes.

I called a friend who is a police officer for the downtown area and was told that there is an undercover operation currently underway in our neighborhood, as well as Cameron Park due to increased break-ins. Two unmarked cars are patrolling these neighborhoods looking for unusual behavior.

Please keep a vigilant eye and take precautions, such as not leaving items in your cars, on your porches, or in view of the front door or windows.

Please report any unusual behavior.

Hi All-

FYI!!! There were two more break-ins on Gaston St. One was while the people were out one evening. They made out with most of their electronics. The other was while the family was out of town. Unfortunately, the later was really bad, they made out with almost EVERYTHING! They cut off the electricity to the house and made off with jewelry, china, silver, they even tried to take the rugs! If you have an alarm, don't forget to use it.

After reading your update on the website I do have something to share that I saw in our neighborhood about 1 week ago. Two young men on BMX-type bikes hanging around on the corner of Washington and Filmore. As I drove past I thought, "That's odd, I have never seen them before in the neighborhood. I wonder what they are waiting for?" I had this weird feeling in my gut that I didn't want them to see where I lived, so I drove around the block, to find they had rode past my house and were now at the corner of Filmore and Adams St.

It just seemed odd to me to see the young men/boys there at that time of the day (after 5pm). There is an alternative high school on Washington street, but usually the kids are trying to skip school and get out of the neighborhood, not "hanging" around. The boys looked a bit old to be on the bikes, but were wearing baggy pants (in the summer) and baseball hats turned backwards they were both African-American.

Just wanted to let you know - if I see them or anyone else suspicious I'll keep you posted.

The information posted on the website in reference to break-ins is very accurate and all residents should heed the warning. The information on the suspicious persons on the bicycles has been passed on to our investigators.

Please call 9-1-1 when you see anyone suspicious in the area. Unfamiliar subjects on porches and people riding bicycles randomly in the neighborhoods qualify as suspicious. Set alarms and lock your doors, even if you're gone for just a few minutes.

We are working hard to catch the people breaking into our neighborhood homes but we need all resident's help

Thanks for the good advice to the neighborhood. We have put extra patrols in the area but still are counting on someone seeing a suspicious person and calling it in. Anyone sitting on a neighbor's porch who does not live there or a bicyclist riding through an area again and again are all reason to call us a 9-1-1. Give us a very detailed description and we'll come out and investigate. You can do this without giving your name if you wish. You have the eyes and ears we need to aid us in finding these thieves.

-Leave lots of lights on inside and out. Burglars hate lights.
-Stop you paper if you leave town........even if just for one night.
-Be a nosy neighbor.

Thank you in advance.

Thanks for posting information about the break-ins on the web site. I'm not sure if mine was referenced (I've just gotten back into town on vacation and am slowly making it through emails), but I wanted to let you know that my house, 706 Hinsdale St., was broken into on Thursday evening, 7/17/03. We were on vacation when it happened. It appears that the robbers were after things that they could easily get their hands on (i.e., laptop computer, jewelry, cash) and out of the house quickly because fortunately, not much else was taken or damaged. If you need more information, please let me know.

The neighborhood had another break-in at a duplex located at 806 North Boylan Saturday night.. Nobody was at home in either unit. Front doors were kicked in. Quick cash items like VCRs, DVDs, laptops were taken.

Never hesitate to contact the police if your gut tells you someone or something looks suspicious. Our District 26 phone number is 858-0120. If there is no answer, call 911. Click link below for additional info about District 26:

Today's N&O reported that Robert's Florist at Peace and Gaston was robbed yesterday afternoon. Details below...

Sorry, but this is a robbery
From Staff Reports

RALEIGH -- An apologetic bandit robbed a florist shop near downtown Friday and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, police reported.
No injuries were reported.

The heist occurred at 12:42 p.m. inside Robert's Florist at 714 W. Peace St . No customers were inside the business during the robbery, said Raleigh police Lt. D.W. Salmon.

A man wearing a light blue Nike T-shirt and khaki shorts walked into the florist and asked the attendant for flowers, police reported.

"Then he said he was sorry, but it was a robbery," Salmon said.

The suspect, believed to be about 30 years old, implied he had a weapon. He was last seen fleeing on foot toward Gaston Street.

Please be extra vigilant. Until things calm down, it may help if we keep our porch lights on at night as a deterrent.

David,
My name is Andy Felton and I live at 604 Adams Street. I am the owner of New Wave Systems, Inc. New Wave is a low voltage integrator that installs security systems, computer networks, home stereo, home theater and more. I have also been a victim of a break @ 1212 Glenwood Avenue ( rental home ). Recently we installed a system for Tony Spencer who lives at 305 Calvin who was also victimized. Below is a letter that he sent to all his neighbors. I think this sums up how our business operates.

Subject: Home Security System Installed Today - Very Pleased

After my break-in last week I shopped around for a
home security system. I met with several sales reps
but I was most impressed with the local company New
Wave Systems.

Andy Felton came by and set me up with a wireless
system (2 doors, one siren, one motion sensor, one
keypad) for less than the equipment/setup cost that
ADT quoted me. The big bonus for me however was that
there is no contract with New Wave whereas ADT was
going to require me to sign a 3 year contract. Also,
the monthly monitoring fee ($20) was less than ADT's
fee. They'll also give you a certificate that you can
give to your insurance company to lower your rates.
It cancelled out the monitoring fee in my case.

Andy was extremely helpful and honest. These guys
move fast too! Once I gave them the go ahead this
morning they came and had it installed, and working
within hours.

Christina-
Hey, this is Cynthia, your neighbor down the street at 730 Gaston. I finally
read the postings on the website and realized that I had seen the kids on
bikes right in front of our house some time about a week to a week and a
half ago. I have also seen them at the corner of Devereux and Gaston. Both
times I had to wait for them to move their bikes so I could drive past. I
thought, each time "hmm, they must be ditching summer school." They were
sort of 17-20ish black guys, on BMX style trick bikes.

A friend of mine in Cameron Park said they have also been the target of many
robberies recently, but the neighbors there are on the lookout for four
young, clean cut white guys. Khaki pants and button down shirts, very
respectable looking.

Anyhow, just sharing. Hopefully the police will have this solved soon. We
are stargint to think we don't want to leave our house.

There's been a strange man around our block (Clay Street facing Fletcher Park). He's black, 30s-40s, dressed normally, speaks with an accent (maybe island/French), usually wears a Scottish golf looking cap and is always walking. He typically walks up and tries to start a conversation and BS about something. He walked up to 3 friends of mine at 10 pm last night in front of the house then walked through the park. Something's off and I always feel uncomfortable. Just wanted everyone else to be aware.

It's reported that on Tuesday, July 29th between 7-11 PM, the house at 503 Jefferson street was burglarized.

For our neighbors who don't know us, we live at 1104 Glenwood. Today, Wednesday July 30, my wife LeAnne and I both had trouble with our housekeys while unlocking our back door lock this afternoon. Normally the keys slide in & out of the bottom lock smoothly, since the locks (there is a deadbolt also) are fairly new. Today, however, the keys seemed to "catch" somewhat in the bottom lock, as if they didn't "fit" exactly. The lock is still functional and apparently secure (the deadbolt wasn't apparently affected, if it was also tampered with), but with the rash of burglaries lately, we wonder if someone tried to tamper with the lock and get in. If so, it was probably in the afternoon, between 1-4pm, since I didn't notice the problem while I came home for lunch, but LeAnne did notice it when she used the lock at around 4:00pm. Just a heads up to everyone to remain vigilant about suspicious activities in our neighborhood, especially during the day.

Regards,

August 03

Another Break-in

Our neighbor Thomas Morris who lives at 609 Washington Street just informed us that his house was broken into some time in the last two weeks. He is in the process of moving out of the area and had not been home in the last two weeks. His back door was kicked in and a small amount was taken. He had moved most of his things already.

W e just came back from our week-end at the beach and we realized that we might have had an attempt burglary in our home. The back bedroom window has been fractured and broken; however, we don't think that anybody came in the house. Luck or a too high window to climb from? I don't know but looks like we were targeted.

-Catherine and John Mennear

From Thomas Morris

Some points I discovered from my break-in. I think it happened during the recent week, not the week before.

* It was a daytime job. None of the interior lights were on.
* They went through my shed (broke the flimsy lock). It's dark in there even on a cloudy day and no light was used. The shed door was left open. No tools were taken that I could tell.
* My back door was pried. The insult to injury is that I'm missing one of my blue-colored wonderbars (Superbar is the brand name). My other one fits perfectly in the grooves. It was either in the carport or the shed, I think.
* I don't have an alarm.
* The search was not systematic, I don't think they were inside more than 3-4 minutes at most. The house was not trashed. The bedroom closet was the biggest mess--one sweatshirt (in it's plastic wrap) was taken. Most drawers were not searched, and several rooms were not entered. They took a cheap black nylon gym-type bag with a drug company name on it, and probably put the loot in there (they kept the shoes but took out the T-shirt). Other than a 27" TV I have no electronics left in the house.
* They came over the back fence (to the apt complex) by bending over the wire fence (very flimsy). They exited through the back door and went to the street up the driveway (they took the beer in my fridge--I found an empty beer can in my azaleas next to the driveway. They were nice enough to close the fridge). They may have cut through the back yard of 611 Washington back to whatever they came over on.
* I think the total loss from theft was less than $50. What's going to cost is replacing the back door. It is original to the house and an off size. I still don't think I will reach the deductible.

With increasing frequency, I have been seeing a man in our neighborhood - mostly on Glenwood - who at a glance looks remarkably like Barry Sanders of the N&O. This man sometimes wears a suit (yet always untidy) and usually a hat (he has a variety of styles) but is sometimes more casual. More frequently than not, he appears intoxicated. I used to see him often on Hillsborough, then I began to see him in Cameron village, next he began to appear along St. Marys and Washington St., and more recently I have been seeing him walking on Glenwood. I usually see him when in my car and would avoid him if on foot, therefore I have never heard him speak and have no sense of his accent. Could this be the same man?

Hi Phil and Everyone,

Can you pass this on to everyone...My roommate Mandy saw the guy that someone else described on our street yesterday morning around 9am...she watched and followed him and he was going up and down the alleys off Devereux Street..by my house 510 Devereux. Black man, mid 30's...rhasta looking guy with dreads..has an accent..if it's the same one I've encounted at Fletcher park as well. He's a panhandler..but she mentioned that he had nothing in his hands at first, but then he came out of the alleyway beside my house with a box of power tools...looked like a handsaw and other stuff...She was on her way to work..and tried to follow him, but lost him...he must have cut through some other alley ways...I talked to the new neighbor beside me...Tony, I think, and he didn't have any missing, but David and Mary Knight..might. Please pass this on...and keep sending the alerts on this...I'm making sure we are all aware on my street.
Thanks, Nancy :)

This guy is ALWAYS walking up and down Gaston Street to and from Peace Street Market. I talk to him all the time, but have never seen him with anything suspicious. We should probably forward all of this information to the police.

- Jeff Roberts

Just a clarification, the black guy with the accent I mentioned is a clean-looking guy, no dreadlocks that I noticed (but he wore a beret or Scottish-type of hat). He has been a fixture of Glenwood for the past 18-months, never seeming to be a bother (until recently). I think there may be confusion between the two descriptions.

However, if someone is stealing grills they must have their own transport (stealthy and brave). I hope the police stay focused on the area.

Hello Neighbors,

Our neighbor Linda forwarded the "FivePointsCAC" on to us. I believe this new info. should be shared with everyone.

The man you described, (Black man, mid 30's...rasta-looking guy with dreads) fits the description of a man I saw in Linda and Craig's yard on Cole Street, Saturday, August 2. I gave Officer Matthews his description.

If seen by anyone, it would probably be a good idea to notify the police.

Thanks Nancy for bringing this up . . . In addition, this past Friday night we were out of town (620 Wills Forest st.) and we were called by ADT at almost midnight with a burglar alarm. Jonathan's dad went to investigate but by the time he got there, nothing was to be seen, and all the exterior doors were locked. However, when we got home, the pad indicated that the basement door was the one that had been tripped. Nothing was missing inside the house, and a burglar would have had to go through more locked doors to get in the main house, but we are assuming they heard the alarm go off and left the scene, closing the door behind them. Apparently the police were called and they registered the trip out there as a false alarm. What is so frustrating is that we followed up with a call Saturday AM to the police department. The dispatcher would not forward us to an officer and no matter what we said about the recent history of break-ins, she said it was considered a false alarm and furthermore was adamant that the probable cause was a big storm in the area.

Do we have an officer we can call directly????

On another note, Jonathan confronted a young black man a few weeks ago who appeared to be casing Jennifer Almekinder's house, and in fact was seen sitting on her porch. Jonathan spoke to the guy and this guy made some strange comment that Jennifer's red Jeep belonged to someone he knew. Jonathan corrected him and the guy went on his way, but was seen around our street by several others.

930 North Boylan was broken into last night between 7 and 11 pm. It is a triplex rental property between two vacant houses.

No one heard any loud noises because of the thunderstorm.

A Raleigh police officer knocked on our door at 12:48 am to ask us if we had seen anything unusual in the neighborhood. He apologized for waking us up and asked us to please report any unusual people or traffic.

Jim recalled seeing a full sized pick up truck with two white men slowly rolling past our house. They appeared to be looking for something. One of them had a cell phone. did not get a license number.

No burgers for my tailgate crew. My grill has been stolen at of my back yard. Grill apparently was stolen within the past two days. The grill was a small tailgate variety and was brand new.

There was another break-in last night at one of the apartments at 930 North Boylan. The door was kicked in and a laptop, camera and cash were stolen. I think (but am not sure) that it happened sometime before 11:00 p.m.

Thanks for keeping us updated on everything else.

Please pass along...

Friday night a friend of mine and I were on my front porch talking and saw 2 guys (caucasion, late teens/early 20s) walking down our street towards Glenwood. They were walking one in front of the other, not talking, and the other bouncing a basketball. It was around midnight, and I thought it was odd - basketball at midnight, not talking, one in front of the other, not to mention looking from house to house and their eyes spent some time on my neighbors.

So I called 911 and reported it and 30 minutes later 2 officer came to my house and asked what happened. I told them and they went straight to my neighbor's house with their flashlights looking all around.

So, perhaps, these officers set off the basement door alarm by accidentally tugging on it, or these 2 young guys were walking by as others were in your backyard trying to get in.

Regardless, I doubt it was a false alarm.

I saw a similar thing - 2 guys, one with a basketball - at lunch today and called 911 again.

Please call to report if you see these young men, as it seems a bit too conincidental.

- Jen Almekinder

We were on vacation the week of July 19th-26th. Upon our return, the
contents of mostly papers in our Miata's glove compartment were on
it's floor and seat. Nothing missing, though. We don't leave anything
valuable in there. The Miata is parked behind the house. Pretty
scary! My next-door-neighbor's back fence was found open too. She
never leaves it open! This has to be related. I live at 2010 Reaves
Drive.

- Karen Cason

This e-mail exchange is real helpful. Either last Friday or Saturday night, I saw the same thing. A couple of white guys (late teens-20s) dribbling a ball down Gaston heading toward Hinsdale or Peace. Thought it was a little odd considering the time, but then thought maybe they were playing b-ball late at Broughton and walking to Peace St. for some drinks. Now I know that's unlikely. I'm sorry that I didn't think to call 911 or to at least inform the neighborhood. That will not happened again. Thanks again for coordinating this.

You know while we're discussing crime "issues," I'd be remiss in not alerting everyone to a man who I'm sure has nothing to do with any of these burglaries, but makes me think that he could commit a violent, criminal act. He's an African-American male in probably his 40's, with black-salt-and-pepper hair with a strong, wiry build, who is often seen walking down Gaston St. towards Peace St. screaming obscenities at anyone he sees. He clearly has some mental health issues. He's actually threatened several woman on Gaston St and he even got in a woman's way as she tried to enter her house. I've been told that he's been seen going into the apartments across the street from the park and that he supposedly lives there. I know that the police have been called about him, however I don't believe that they've had any luck running him down. I believe that we should pool our information about him and share it with the police. Anyone have any dealings with this guy? Thanks.

- Mike Gordon

There appear to be two different individuals who are walking thru/around our neighborhood who are attracting attention. The first - a "well dressed but messy" black man who often wears hats and sometimes has an accent (French, Creole, Jamaican) or not - is familiar to my husband and myself. He is also well known to the many Glenwood Avenue merchants. We call him by the code name "half and half" in our store as we heard that he used to hang out at the 3rd place drinking cream and half and half all day until he was told that he could only be there if he purchased coffee. He is suspicious, but not "new." He doesn't appear to have a consistent accent, it comes and goes and he will agree to be from wherever you think he is from. Jamaica, France, Dominica, whatever. We have kicked him out of our store (Ornamentea) a few times for loitering and harrassing our employees. He doesn't seem violent, and by harassing I mean he attempts to pick them up, asks personal questions, etc. He often carries a brief case, often wears a hat. We have thought for a long time that he was probably a drop off guy for a drug dealer as he often met individuals in tricked out cars in the Snoopy's parking lot, shook hands, passed small bags on, etc. He has never been violent that we know and is more than happy to chat with you. Depending on how much of an accent he has that day, you may or may not be able to understand him.

The second individual, the "man with dreadlocks" may also be familiar to us. I caught someone matching his description rifling through my car at our store on West St. early one Sunday morning last summer. Galen and I were at work and I was taking stuff into the office so I hadn't locked the car. I came out to find him eating my mints and pocketing my change and when I yelled at him and told him I was going to call the cops he told me (in a Jamaican accent) to "chill out baby" etc. I was mad, hot and not about to be babied by a thief, so I pursued him down West St. Unfortunately, he got away but the police told me that they would look out for him. Could be the same guy....

Hi,
I want to pass this info along. There might be something to it. One of the notes this past week mentioned a white pickup truck.

As I usually do, I came from St. Mary's down Brooklyn and drove around to my driveway on Clay a little before 4P.
I noticed a white pickup with a blonde headed man in the drivers seat, possibly a ford or dodge with a club cab(one of those small, small seats in back) sitting in the Ligon Parking Lot near the street. It had either a temp tag or an out of state plate on it.

I did not notice anyone on Clay as I parked. Upon unloading my things and locking up the car, out of nowhere a blonde headed woman carrying a small child in her arms approached me from the street. Have no idea where she came from so fast!!

Here's the kicker - She asked what city was she in? Was this Fuquay Varina?! I told her she was in Raleigh!!! Got into house ASAP and watched from the front window. She got in the truck and as Andrew Root drove up they drove off down Brooklyn toward Gaston.

David,

Two burglary suspects were arrested over the weekend. One case in particular occurred on Bernard Street and the suspect had been seen frequently in our neighborhood. It is likely he may be tied to some of our cases but we have not done that yet. It will require a lot of follow up work and probably cooperation from the suspect. The other arrest was off of an apartment area and is not likely linked to our problems.

I always hesitate to say we have cracked a case especially one of this magnitude. I have always believed that there were several suspects or groups of suspects burglarizing our area. We cannot let our guard down. But things are better now than a week ago.

Thanks for all your great communications and proactive work in the neighborhood. I have never seen a neighborhood take responsibility for their security and safety like our folks have done. I'm proud to live in Glenwood-Brooklyn.

Captain Poteat

Hey Dave,
Bad news for George on Jefferson, he was hit a few weeks ago and they took cell phone other items and apparently his extra car key. They showed back up night before last a took his car- Good news is that they found it that night, empty on gas and abandoned on New Bern.
This is all second hand info -some details may be off.
Either way they are still out there.
Thanks for doing such a great job with the web site and posting the information,
- Lynn Ruck

Friday night, 8-15 after 11PM, I believe, two cars on Wills Forest were broken into. In one, the Jeep Cherokee window was smashed (our neighbor at 618 Wills Forest) and a walkman type device was taken from the seat. The other was, I believe, Katy Weatherly's Jeep, a smashed window as well. . . I do not know what was taken from her car. The break-ins were not noticed until Saturday mid-morning.

I want to give everyone a "heads up" regarding something odd that happened last night/early this morning that makes us think that we were about to be burglarized. We live at 721 Gaston St., at the T-intersection with Devereux. At 3 a.m., we heard someone messing with our front door and then knock on it. I then went to the door and saw a man that I had never seen before. When he saw me, he look surprised to see me and had a foggy, dazed look of someone on something. Upon seeing me, he appeared to pretend to look at a piece of paper in his hand and then look up at our house as if he was checking for the right address number. However, our address # wasn't visible from where he was standing. After putting on what I thought was a brief act, he walked on Gaston St. towards Brooklyn St. and continued to look at his hand or a piece of paper as if, again, he was looking for the right address.

Here are the reasons that I believe that this was an averted burglary: (1) 1 of our cars was parked on the street, a couple of doors down from us, last night, which is extremely unusual for us, and would have suggested that we weren't home to someone who's been watching us; (2) the time of night/morning; (3) we heard him playing with the door; (4) our daughter got up minutes before the event at the door, which suggests that she heard the guy trying to gain access elsewhere in the house; (5) if the guy really wasn't sure if this was the right house, why would he have played with the door, rather than just knock or ring our doorbell; and (6) what's been going on in our and surrounding neighborhoods.

I didn't get a great description because, quite frankly, I was both surprised and worried. I can tell you that he was African-American, wearing a black wind breaker type jacket that had white stripes on the sleeves and looked to be in his 40's but could have been in his mid/late 30's or early 50s. (Because he looked like he was on something it was hard to gauge if he was old or just looked old from whatever he was on.)

I called 911 last night. Today, I called the 26, spoke to a Detective and informed him of the above. The Det. informed me that a PO responded, that the PO didn't complete a field report, which most likely means that the above guy wasn't spotted, and that the Det. would prepare an increased patrol report, which would require PO's to approach this guy should they see him. I'll let you know if I learn anything more and please let me know if you have anything to add on this. Thanks.

- Mike Gordon

8-19-03

This morning, the Detective called me back. It turns out that the PO did find the guy who came to our door. It also turns out that he is a homeless man, well-known to the POs in the area. The guy isn't violent and when the PO spoke to him last night, the guy was so drunk that he had no idea where he was. I obviously wasn't pleased that he came to my door at 3 a.m.; however, I am pleased that the Detective assured me that he's not the type to try to break in.

I was looking on the Vigilance link on G-B and there are no updates since August. I wanted to report that someone had been in my backyard at sometime just before Oct 18th. My back fence (wire + posts) to the apt. complex was bent badly (it cannot support any substantial weight before giving way), and the driveway gate was open in a manner that suggested exiting through the gate rather than entry. Nothing was taken or displaced (although it was weird to find a freshly dead squirrel in my kitchen--I think it got in via the attic). I was wondering if someone was seen fleeing from the apt. complex.

Just when we thought they were finished with the Glenwood/Brooklyn area,
our house was broken into last night. I left our corner of Gaston and
Brooklyn residence around 7:45pm on Tuesday October 21st to pick up my wife from the
airport. When we returned, our front door had been kicked in and the burglars
had managed to get away with my wife's Jewelry box, a couple of cameras, a
DVD player, several leather jackets, a couple of stereos, a pair of binoculars,
numerous pairs of shoes and countless sentimental items. They seemed to be
looking for cash or things that could easily be sold to a Pawn Shop. We suspect
that the brazen burglars are targeting unoccupied houses, between the hours of
7:00pm and 9:00pm, in hopes that the neighbors are cooking dinner, watching
T.V. and generally operating with a low guard. Our street is well lit and our
neighbor's house is about 3 feet from ours, so it's apparent that they are well
organized and communicating with a lookout person outside the house. We have
since installed some home security devises and feel safer today than yesterday
but it will be a long time before we stop being suspicious every misfit that
our neighborhood seems to attract.
I did see some suspicious activity as I left for the airport last night. I
saw an adult male riding a bicycle down Gaston and turning left onto Brooklyn.
As the man rode past me, he seemed to be observing my actions and taking note
that I was leaving my house unoccupied. The combination of my not saying good
by to anyone and double checking the lock on the door, probably suggested that
I would be out for an hour or two. It was dark so I can't offer a description
of the man but I do know he was a black male, 20 something and riding his bike
mischievously through the neighborhood. I don't want to start a "witch hunt"
but I believe the burglars are successfully tracking our comings and goings as
well as our daily routines through a number of methods. I urge the entire
neighborhood to maintain a heightened awareness of strangers in our area
especially during the hours that are seemingly the safest and not to hesitate calling
the police.

My husband discovered a lock had been cut off our utility trailer that was parked on Wills Forest, just off Glenwood, this past Sunday Morning.(Oct. 23) They either planned to return for it later or were scared off. Alan checks the utility trailer daily, so it had happened overnight. We live at 903 Glenwood Avenue with a back alley on Wills Forest.

I wanted to alert our Cameron Park neighbors to what happened throughout Boylan Heights last night:

Apparently a group of man in a large, loud truck drove throughout the neighborhood shooting the windows out of cars with an pellet gun.

The current total is 12 car windows throughout the neighborhood.
